What’s hiding behind the doors?!

When planning a new bedroom it is easy to be seduced by images of minimalistically chic bedrooms with clean sharp lines and not a thing out of place.  In a recent blog we looked at easy ways to declutter and it may be that if you opened the wardrobe and cupboard doors you would find an equal state of perfection!   But as many of us do struggle to keep things tidy, it is good to know that there are a variety of storage and wardrobe solutions available.

You in Your Small Corner!

When considering the layout for a new fitted bedroom, many of us just consider the main areas of wall space in the room.  But what about those bedrooms that have awkward areas of dead space?   Whether it’s an existing bedroom or perhaps a loft conversion, how can you make the best use of every inch of space?

Declutter for summer!

Summer is almost here and now is the time to get your house in order! The warmer days and lighter evenings seem to energise and inspire many of us to get on with all those little jobs we keep meaning to do – then rewarding ourselves with a nice cool drink afterwards!   It’s often at this time of year that we feel able to face larger jobs too, such as decorating, DIY or other forms of home improvement.

Where do all the cookery books go?!

A few days ago there was a near riot when the BBC announced that a number of its websites are to close.  One of these is BBC Food.  This prompted an online petition – with over 100,000 signatures to date – to “Save the BBC’s recipe archive!”

The Magic of Mirrors

At this time of year, as the sun finally makes its appearance, we all begin to realise the therapeutic properties of light.  Everything seems just that little bit better when the sun is shining, and there is a more positive atmosphere in the air.  Many of us feel that it would be wonderful to have a lighter brighter home all year round.

The DIY Challenge!

As Cambridge University’s Peterhouse College win the latest series of University Challenge, is it time for a little challenge in your life?  If you’re anything like us at DIY Homefit, you may struggle to answer some of the University Challenge questions but don’t let that put you off pushing yourself in a different direction.

Eating the Elephant one bite at a time

If like some of us at DIY Homefit you are old enough to remember the 1980’s craze for time management training you will be very familiar with the above phrase!  It is also still widely used today.  If not, let us explain – and don’t worry: no elephants (or any other animals for that matter!) have been harmed in the creation of this article!

DIY’s Got Talent?!

Here we go again!  Another round of Britain’s Got Talent hits our screens and it seems the nation divides into two camps – love it or hate it – with perhaps an additional small minority who haven’t a clue about the very existence of “BGT”!

The mysterious case of the handleless kitchen doors

Calling all you amateur sleuths out there! You may have noticed over the past four or five years a strange phenomenon taking place in a kitchen near you?  Handles are gradually disappearing!  More and more kitchens seem to be missing them.  We have heard reports of many kitchen cupboards and built in appliances now having a totally smooth finish.  So why are more and more people choosing handleless kitchen doors?

The Icing on the Cake!

One of the advantages of sourcing your kitchen from an independent supplier such as DIY Homefit is that you can purchase as much or as little as you need.  You are not tied in to the recommendations of your kitchen fitter and can mix and match as much as you like.  It’s perfectly possible to do a kitchen refurbishment in stages if you don’t want the disruption and financial commitment of getting everything done at once.
